Drive is quickly becoming my favorite local band, giving EXO a run for their money. The sound is reminiscent of stoner rock, but to just say that they sound like Queens of the Stone Age is not entirely accurate. While they're certainly fond of the angular, piledriver riffs, there's a much different harmonic and melodic sense involved. Particularly with Chris Bauer's vocals, which are probably more reminiscent of fellow Chicagoan Jason Narducy of Verbow than anything else I can think of. Coupled with Ivory Wire, there's almost an emergence of a certain sound going on here in the Windy City, almost a midpoint between stoner rock like QOTSA and the punky power-pop of someone like Jimmy Eat World.
