The Cleveland Cavaliers have a player named Smush Walker. I just thought you needed to know that.
Last night was one of those nights where you're generally happy about your level of play, even though you lose the game. The Usual Suspects of the Barnburner Soccer League dropped a 4-3 decision to Da Coaches, but a couple of better bounces and better touches, including a blown breakaway by yours truly, and the whole thing ends up differently. We're 0-3 so far, but we're also the only team that hasn't been playing together in previous sessions. A little more concentration on defense, and we can compete with anyone in the league. That doesn't make me any less sore today, though.
Right now we're in the lull between setting up for the the big Scorpio Party and the actual fete itself. A little background may be in order. The lead singer of Nitrous Foxide, of which I am now a member, has had this birthday party with several friends for a good couple of years now, and it's grown to massive proportions. Foxide is traditionally the headlining band for the festivities, and that meant transforming a loft space on the North Side into something approximating a rock club. When I left, things looked pretty well in hand, but there's a considerable amount of down time for now. I'm a little concerned about drinking tonight, as I suspect dehydration to be the source of the problems with my eyes that I reported in this space last time, so we'll see what happens. As a huge party, there's always potential to meet that certain someone, so I want to be festive, it's just a question as to whether or not that requires some assistance of the alcoholic variety.
