Most people have noticed that we try to make efficient use of the otherwise dead time spent in cars. Most common, and subsequently the target of much criticism, is talking on a cell phone, followed closely by eating and putting on makeup. We've all seen these things, to the point where they're no longer unusual. Well, last night, I'm driving down Damen, and I swear to you, the guy behind me was FLOSSING HIS TEETH. To his credit, this was while stopped at a traffic light, but it was still weird. And he had a passenger, to boot.
My destination on this particular jaunt was the Double Door, where we had a pretty good night with the Lindsie Reitz Band, the first time we've been designated as such. The backstage passes just said "LRB" on them, and I was concerned that someone who saw just those might expect us to actually be the Little River Band, but thankfully, there were no calls from the crowd for "Lonesome Loser." Lindsie's sister, however, was desperately trying to get me to smile when she joined us on stage for an ill-fated "Mouse" dance. Dammit, drumming is serious business! She may have had a point, and if I'm serious about my New Year's resolution to become more emotionally attached to my own life, looking like I'm having fun from time to time might help.
I'm also starting to think that 2003 will be the Year of Action. Lots of pieces moving on the board this week, including some new efforts toward financial security. And by that I don't mean tomorrow night's trip to the riverboats.
