Got up at a reasonable hour today, and decided to put the extra time to good use by actually fixing the archive problem on the site. Basically, I figured I'd just pipe everything to a single archive directory, but what actually happened when I did that was that every "master" archive page, particularly the monthly ones, would then just point to the one that changed most recently. So, if I updated "Music," clicking on the "October 2002" link in "TV" would give you that month's music entries. Navigating past entries on this site was already a bit of an issue, but that was just ridiculous. And now I might draft Phineas into helping me shore up the other stuff and add the photo section I've been threatening forever. Maybe I don't actually have photos of Korea. You just can't be sure, can you?
There's probably other stuff worth mentioning, too, but this freelance data wrangling I've been doing has my mind racing too fast to really put any of it into coherent thought. On the other hand, I've got the freelance data wrangling going on, which is a good sign for the future. I'm tempted to actually build a real little business, with a name and everything, out of that. Technically, it already has a name, but I might formalize the process a bit. You know, fill out forms and make business cards. I've identified as many as four or five different pipelines of work that I might be able to tap into, which could give serious life to this as a stream of income. Keep the requisite fingers crossed.
I wish you well, Chris (and I'm still impressed with your ability to swell the coffers enough to remain out of full-time work for a couple of years). You'll do fine.
