GINOBLI!

Lots and lots of sports this week. For some reason, the Inside the NBA guys are cracking me up. It's entirely possible that it's because they're really funny, 'cause I'm off the codeine for now. Kenny betting that Kobe Bryant would shoot 80% in the second half of game 1 was priceless, with Minnesota's Troy Hudson getting in on the action, and a nice allusion to Charles Barkley's Yao Ming bet from earlier in the season when it didn't pan out.

And last night, Milwaukee has two men on base, nobody out, down three runs against the Cubbies with a 3-1 count. For the love of God, you don't give the guy a pitch he has any possibility of hitting, let alone one he can drive out the park to tie the game. He's swinging all the way, make him go fishing for it. Cubs went on to lose 9-6, and you have to wonder if yanking Mark Prior after a leadoff hit in the seventh was wise, given the massive bullpen breakdown that ensued.

The fun thing about the open mike at Vaughan's is that we've got a TV facing us on stage, so I tend to leave with all the evening's sports highlights temporarily etched on the back of my brain. Detroit's touch-passing on the fast break stands out, along with a well-executed double play, which I think was by the Dodgers against the Mets in the first meeting between Mike Piazza and whoever the guy was who beaned him in preseason, causing a bench-clearing brawl.

And today, it was Arsenal taking out their frustration at losing the English Premier League to Manchester United by scoring 5 goals in 25 minutes against Southampton en route to a 6-1 drubbing. Ouch. Could have used a little of that this weekend against Leeds.

Now the Lakers are losing again, which is good, except that they'll be whining about all the injuries once they're bumped from the playoffs. Kudos to the broadcast team, though, for pointing out how crappy L.A.'s supporting cast is this year.

Don't you sound like a retard. The supporting cast of the Lakers is much better than people realize. The tend to not come out with intensity because the design of the plays are intended for Kobe and Shaq. But that doesn't mean that the Lakers bench is week. And now that they've kicked San Antonio out of the Playoffs what are you going to say now? If I recall correctly, It was San Antonio that was doing the whinning. (Fisher's buzzer beater)

You know, you might have a leg to stand on...if I had posted that this year.
