Oops

Last night's Fire-Rapids match out in Naperville was a blast, but anytime you win 4-0, you're going to have fun (with the obvious exception of last year's blowout over KC, where forward Josh Wolff tore his ACL). Section 8, after a slow start, was rockin', and with Fox Sports Chicago covering a home game, the cameras were giving us a lot of love. Lots of focus on the drums, and then, late in the match, the red light comes on...

And I dropped a drumstick. On TV. Dammit.

To my credit, I got applause from Colorado goalkeeper Scott Garlick for the "you're older than Preki" cheer, but I guess I got greedy, and tried a little stick flip in the middle of another chant. But hey, better to be on TV and look foolish than not be on TV at all, right?

Right?

In other news, I fixed the site slightly so it can handle both the most recent entry and multiple entries in a single day. There's probably still a better way to do it, but this will work for now. The ideal thing would be to include full entries for the most recent day, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Other stuff, too, but that'll wait. Gotta pound out l.i.t.c. and then get on with the Memorial Day BBQ-ing and whatnot.

And so it was:

That, one night, back in the early 1990s, in the middle of an incredible Rush concert, Neil Peart himself threw a drumstick quite high in the air...

It was in the middle of "The Trees", during the 5/4 section prior to the guitar solo, right after the wind chimes, where it's just the bass drum/crash cymbal accents....

He must have thrown his stick "as high up as a telephone pole" because it went out of the range of the camera and seemed to stay up there for about 5 seconds.... however, he was off by a few millimeters when it left his grip and the end result was that it fell about 4 feet behind his kit...right in back of his gong, if I remember correctly.

He grabbed a replacement stick from his bag, even missed a beat - and the camera was RIGHT on him....oh, was he pissed! For the next few 5/4 ride cymbal measures w/ bass/crash in the beginning of the measure, he absolutely HAMMERED his drums out of pure ANGER - you'd have to see the bootleg video - it's a riot.

And my point is? Hey, these things happen, you know?

Anyway - enough about that - what I really want to tell you is that soon, we're getting the 'Rush Cover Band' back together, with THE ALMIGHTY ALDO on vocals (whether you realize it or not) - hehhehehehhehehehhehehhee
