My kind of lawmaking

NP: David Lee Roth, Skyscraper (CD)

"The left lane is for passing," Blagojevich said. "If you want to drive a consistent rate and you're not actually passing, you should be in the other two lanes."

That's Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, who just signed a law allowing drivers to use the leftmost lane on Illinois interstates only under certain circumstances. In effect, making it illegal to drive slow in the fast lane. Suddenly I'm happy I voted for this guy, although to be fair, the problem is a million times worse in Ohio. Maybe it'll start a trend.

Our Tuesday soccer team won pretty decisively last night, by a 4-0 scoreline. Lots of good movement, but I still felt like I was getting hung out to dry on the weak side of the defense pretty regularly. That said, I was able to cover pretty well, and played probably one of my better games of the season. The calf injury is still nagging a bit, and I got my foot stepped on pretty hard.

Afterwards, Vaughan's was almost as crowded as it was on Fat Tuesday. By and large the biggest turnout in a long while, including a whole bunch of musicians. Monica actually brought a drink to me on stage once I got set up, which was nice, as was seeing one of the former bartenders back on her birthday. But the high point was when I joined Navid, who some of you might remember from the Foxide shows at Goose Island, for a somewhat abbreviated version of "Outshined" by Soundgarden. Wow, that rocked.
