NP: The Hives, Veni, Vidi, Vicious (MP3)

It's been sort of an up-and-down weekend. I was really dark going into the Lindsie gig on Friday, sort of an amalgamation of a bunch of things not necessarily crashing down on me, but weighing on my mind nonetheless. Fortunately one of them, the propensity for my friends (and mutual friends with other band members, by and large, don't count in this thinking) to not come see me play drums, was dispelled a few minutes before we hit the stage when some of my soccer buddies showed up. I was still pretty intense during the set, despite rumors that I actually cracked a smile. Then there were some quality conversations with a number of people afterwards, some drunk, some sober, but all mostly interesting and some even flirtatious, but that was mostly the drunk one. Sometimes people will lean hard into you during a conversation because they can't stand up, not because they're "interested."

Saturday was pleasant. Lots of friends. Cubs again pulling a game out after a bullpen meltdown. A big Fire win. Entirely too much drinking. Probably could have gotten a phone number at JM's birthday bar party, but didn't really feel like putting forth that extra effort, for a number of reasons. One is entirely a long shot, but it's a long shot that I finally took after some deliberation.

Today was back to being dark, with my Sunday soccer team reverting to it's old, bitter self. Suffice it to say we lost, and with loss comes blame, spoken and unspoken. While I didn't have a sparkling game, I was put in tough positions a lot, and was getting excessively grumpy about it. But that's done now, and all I've got left today is helping RG move some boxes to her new place and mentally preparing for tomorrow, which looks to be a big and busy day on a number of fronts.

I really could stand to lay off these vague posts about my life. I'm not certain they actually convey anything useful, but again, my site.
