NP: EXO, The Safety Primer Justice (CD)
The overwhelming majority of spam to my old Enteract account has been for vicodin. I'm not sure just what to make of that. On the one hand, I should just shut that account down once and for all. It's almost all spam, and sooner or later, the powers that be might realize that they haven't billed me a dime since I scaled it down to dial-up. On the other hand, I had a longtime business contact give that address to a potential new freelance client.
This has been a day or two of retrenching, figuring out new plans of attack. Occam's razor being what it is, I perhaps read too much into the weekend. If someone has had quite a bit to drink, and they do something you don't quite expect, it can, in fact, be just because they were drunk, and not because of some latent motivations suddenly uninhibited. Not that my interpretation can't be retooled as a goal to move toward, but...
I can't imagine I'm making any sense without saying what happened, so I'll just stop now. One of these days I'll actually start dishing dirt here. I do wonder if that would make it a more compelling read.
Some of the retrenching has been on the financial front, where I have to take a long, hard look at several options that look a lot like an admission of defeat in this brutal economy. At the same time, I'm trying to "leverage some assets" to maybe snatch victory from the jaws of, well not quite defeat, but a draw, perhaps? The emerging theme, here and elsewhere, is opening up lines of communication, getting people talking to each other in ways that, well, help me.
Also, laziness pays off. For the last couple of weeks, I kept hearing that some tickets remained for the Cubs' final homestand of the regular season against the Pirates, and for the employment-challenged, a Friday afternoon game sounded perfect. But I just never got around to buying tickets, and the torrential downpour that seems to have a direct line of communication to the overworked cartilage in my knees has validated that lack of action tenfold. Of course, the Cubbies didn't do themselves any favors last night, with Carlos Zambrano having his second consecutive bad outing right when he can't really afford them. Still in first, though, even if it's even.
