Big in Japan

NP: Mogwai, Come On Die Young (MP3)

After seeing Kill Bill on Sunday, and Lost in Translation last night, I'm on a bit of a Japan-overload. Both movies were darned good, though, and I absolutely need to track down the soundtrack for the latter.

Last night could have been mildly disastrous, as the restaurant I wanted to hit before the movie isn't open on Mondays, and the band I wanted to see afterwards wasn't playing this week. Neither of those wound up had a significant impact on anything, except maybe having beer instead of wine with dinner.

I'm also really happy I didn't go to Columbus on Sunday for the Fire game, as they cleared the bench and got summarily whomped 6-2. I'm absolutely ecstatic that I didn't take the arranged bus, as several riders apparently had some late reaquaintences with the food and drink they had earlier. Emphasis being, not surprisingly, on the drink. It would have made an interesting comparison, though, between belligerent drunk Poles on the last bus trip and vomiting drunk college kids. Depending, of course, on your definition of "interesting." Did I mention how I happy I was to stay home?

And now there's another interesting opportunity dancing on the near horizon, possibly the validation of a year and a half of effort. Also, the hubcaps I bought yesterday don't fit on my wheels. So today's sort of a mixed bag. At least one up, at least one unknown and at least one down. Not that I'm keeping score or anything.
