NP: King Crimson, The Power To Believe (CD)

I think the weekend finally caught up with me, as sluggish is even a generous word for the relatively short amount of full consciousness prior to the noon hour. Playing soccer on Sunday night probably didn't help, either.

Last night was the second rehearsal for what I've been calling a "Puerto Rican hip-hop doo-wop" project, but my friend Dana, who is singing backup, insists that any description that doesn't including calling it "booty music" is woefully inaccurate. Anyway, with her in the fold, along with Eric on bass, I don't feel quite as out of place as I did previously, so that's good. Eric also hit on the key to approaching this one, and that is taking cues from the wonderment that is The Roots. I'm no ?uestlove, but I'll do what I can.

Then a post-practice drink at Bad Dog, where they have possibly the most amazing pita-and-hummus appetizer I've ever encountered. They cut the pita, then season it and lightly fry it. Again, amazing, although three out of the five of us (Eric bailed, Dana's boyfriend, one of his bandmates, and one potential new bandmate, of which I'm still being thoroughly vague, also attended) declined to partake. Got some much-needed followup on the NYC trip from a few weeks back. I was feeling left out for a little while there.

Meanwhile, there may be a major division of a world church, while a major world power (i.e., us) launches "pre-emptive" wars that hold major benefits for the politically connected in what seems like a new, corporate imperialism only because I'm not checking my history. I'm going to party like it's 1699!

I actually have no earthly idea when the last major religious split happened, but again, this is supposed to be off the cuff. And here I am not even wearing sleeves.
