NP: Peter Gabriel, Us (CD)
I'm thinking maybe the Ryan family Christmas card is going to focus more on getting nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, and not so much for being indicted by a federal grand jury for corruption.
Just a hunch.
Over the last week, it has suddenly come to my attention that several people actually read this thing. Wow, I'm honored, flattered, and, well, surprised.
I just got back from another interview, only to find a friend forwarding me some opportunities at his company. This on the heels of another friend trying to hook me up with a recruiter who helped someone at her company, and yet another friend who might be able to help with some voiceover work. Suffice it to say, I've come a long way from that guy who wasn't so good with the schmoozing. I know I risk talking about myself too much sometimes, and/or being a bit of a wet blanket when I rue my current situation in public, but it can certainly have its benefits.
On a larger, more esoteric scale, it's about making yourself available to opportunities, in such a way that the current carries them to you. Which is probably bullshit, and I'm just feeling the pressure and pounding the pavement a bit harder than usual.
Or, good things come from spreading the joy that is Outkast's "Hey Ya" at open mike. It killed again last night, with the immediate audience even doing the call-and-response thing in the breakdown. Now I just have to nail the "shake it like a Polaroid picture" thing, which is much trickier than it sounds.
Of course we read it Coz!
