NP: Frank Zappa, Läther (CD)
Having spent the last two years spreading my bets around the table, it's not like me to focus on just one number. But, at the same time, there's been all this self-induced blather about getting bolder and more assertive and actually trying to get what I want instead of letting it happen to me. Not to mention my ongoing state of underemployment.
So, today is important. Significant opportunity for improved stability and reduced stress, much to the chagrin of my credit card companies. This is one I should be able to knock out of the park, and I'm trying to build up enough confidence to take a bigger swing. It's not that I'm lacking in that department, with regard to my skills and employability (although I guess previous job interviews may have hurt a little), just that I need more to take charge of the situation. I've said it before, but it bears repeating. It's not enough to just go in and be me, thinking on my feet to demonstrate what I can do.
See, it's not always about girls with this sort of thing. That was just a convenient parallel to help ram the point home. I've got to want it, I've got to show that I want it in no uncertain terms, and not simply focus on not making a bad impression. Okay, that might have a little more about the girl thing, but it still works.
Although, at the end of the day, it might not be the end of the world. For one, the Britpop band looks like it will be playing every week by the end of the month, which is a good start. And the new, improved Foxide business model might actually work, replete with a birthday show for your humble correspondent. Then there's the book, but that's very hypothetical at this point. Keep your fingers crossed, this might just all work out.
