NP: CMJ New Music Monthly - Volume 034 - June 1996 (CD)
I'm embarking on a little bit of a personal grooming experiment today. What I was hoping was that coloring products aimed at graying hair just did their work on the gray hairs, and not the rest. So I ordered a trial sample of Just For Men, and got it in jet black, which is not my natural hair color. I figured that it might look good to have mostly brown hair with black streaks instead of the more "distinguished" gray.
Nothing ever goes quite as planned. At the moment, I've got a sticky, black head of hair that will allegedly revert to normal with my next shampooing. Except that, as it's a trial product designed specifically not to last, I have this notion that the inside of any hat I wear today will become black, and if I start sweating or something, I'll look like a member of Slipknot. And if I scratch my forehead, I'll smudge.
So, naturally, I got General Tso's chicken for lunch, and I have to load and unload my drums today once I finally get my car back.
The car situation was finally explained to me sufficiently yesterday. The problem was that matching the paint color is hardly an exact science, and their first several attempts were too bright. Now, they claim to have it down and my car is "in the cooker."
Back on the political beat, I think I have more comments about Bush v. Russert, but can't be bothered to go read the transcripts. That would make me feel too much like a real blogger, and for whatever reason, I'm avoiding that designation and that style like the plague. So I'll save that for later when I really get bored. In the meantime, I'm wondering if the remaining four serious contenders for the Democrats, since they're mostly playing nice with each other, should consolidate into a slate immediately. I don't know if including a potential Secretary of State (Clark) and another post (for either Edwards or Dean, whichever is less veep-worthy) going into the election has ever really been tried, but it would be an interesting way to harness the power of the different constituencies.
And I've got an appointment for a physical tomorrow, which means no food or drink after 10pm tonight. In retrospect, scheduling it for a Wednesday, after Vaughan's on Tuesday night, may have been a bad idea. Alternately, it might set a good precedent for not drinking when I'm out on a gig, one more step on the path to fitness that I'm completely ignoring with the General Tso's Chicken mentioned earlier.
