Splatter Patterns

NP: Led Zeppelin, Box Set (CD)

Now that I've had a bit more time to dwell on think about it, last night's little outburst looks like the recurring onset of that wall I keep hitting. You know, the one that creeps up on me after I build up a head of steam. One thing I've learned in nearly two years of fending for myself is that it requires a lot of energy, which leads to frequent burnouts.

Things don't seem quite so dire today, but coffee will do that for you. With any luck, I've got enough going on in the next couple of days to weather this particular storm. There's still a chance of good news crossing my phone lines today on a couple of fronts, and the sun is shining.

I'm tempted to weigh in on the current "national debate" -- if by national debate you mean two sides screaming their entrenched, intractable opinions at each other at the top of their lungs -- on gay marriage. Except that I can't really talk about the "sanctity of marriage" without giggling. The important thing about this whole mess is that it's got the White House press corps asking Scott McLellan about Britney Spears on a semi-regular basis. I've also seen the argument that allowing gays to marry opens the floodgates to eventually allowing pedophilia, so maybe this whole thing is just an elaborate strategy from Michael Jackson's legal team. Allegedly.

It would behoove me to actually start working on the book, but like "voiceover actor," "teacher" and "singer/guitarist," I have a bit of a hangup on considering myself a "writer" in the professional sense. Anybody can host their own website. So it's slightly harder when I'm on the downside of the mental-energy-rollercoaster. Then again, that may be exactly the right time to do the busy work and research.
