NP: The entire MP3 collection on shuffle play (MP3)
Also, I'm not a huge Cubs fan or anything, but yesterday's Tribune Daywatch teaser of "Greg Maddux leads Cubs to victory" made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
What I can't figure out is why my body suddenly made the executive decision that I needed to sleep -- and sleep hard -- last night. Yes, I got up earlier on Monday than is usual, in order to get list.in.to.chicago done before my first Sandwich King set at 11am, but I still don't feel the punishment fit the crime.
Maybe part of me knew, subconsciously, that I'd need all my strength and wits about me to tackle the huge mountain of laundry currently sorted on my bed. I just have to make sure I don't accidentally wash the cat sacked out amidst the "cold wash" pile. My guess is that LV wouldn't appreciate that too much, nor would my roommate.
Back on the never-ending search for stability, I have to gripe about the human resources profession. If I were to get an e-mail telling me that I was, basically, overqualified for a position, but did I have any colleagues/associates who might be looking, is it that much of a stretch to believe that maybe they're having trouble recruiting? Furthermore, is it wrong to get very annoyed when the recruiter, upon being called, tells me they've extended an offer to someone? I didn't even have an angle on this (yet -- the call was to establish whether or not I might have room to negotiate), and while I'm not quite livid, but somewhere along that route. This seems like one of those dogmatic things that every HR person does for no good reason other than to codify their little corner of power over the job supplicant applicant.
My dating life (or abject lack thereof) can certainly appreciate the merits of casting a wide net, but if you're close to an offer, that just seems, to extend the metaphor, particularly slutty.
