The Graceful Exit of the Rock Opera

NP: John Cage, 4'33" (dance mix)

This, for whatever, reason, couldn't wait. Whether that's due to slight inebriation, or just weird vibes upon the conclusion of the McGee's gig, I'm not quite sure, but I feel like I need some sort of catharsis. Or at least some talking out loud to articulate things and maybe push silly zombie posts further back, and other things further back still.

I'm notoriously bad at leaving a room. I want to hang around too much. This proves bad in any number of interpersonal situations, and one of these days, I'm just going to learn how to cut bait and get the fuck out. There's a general and a specific case of that within the last hour or so, and it's the general one that has me slightly fuddled. Not quite befuddled. You get the picture.

The McGee's gig wasn't bad, but it was a little odd. Most of the crowd had been there either since the Shamrock Shuffle or since the NCAA games started, so there was a slow but consistent exodus during the course of the set. The manager dug the Sugar tune, at the very least, but then gave off a real weird vibe when I tried to talk to him at the end of the night. And I was on the periphery of interactions that I knew I had no business trying to interfere with, or affect to my idealistic fantasy conclusion. Just not gonna happen, and I never, ever learn.

However, in the midst of all of this, I may have constructed what I would imagine is the world's first '80s rock opera. Not that there haven't been rock operas in the '80s. Far from it. But this is a rock opera consisting of various '80s tunes, and tells the story of a guy who fell in love with a girl named Jeanie, only to have his heart broken until he rebounds with another girl, named Jenny, who he marries in Mexico and lives happily ever after with until he gets mixed up with Latin American espionage.

That may be all the explanation you ever get. Maybe a tracklist, at which point I'm all for it becoming an open source project to fill in more backstory.
