NP: Arsenal v. Birmingham (TV)
Man, the longer this game remains scoreless, the easier it is for one play to ruin Arsenal's unbeaten season. Yet I can't be compelled to park it in front of the couch and see how it turns out. At least until I'm done with this.
Anyway, I think the new job is growing on me, because I'm having search-engine thoughts. If you don't know why these things are related, read this to get a basic idea of what I'm doing for a living now. Then there was yesterday's Google story, which firmly entrenched the phrase "polka-dotted zebras" in my brain.
Which, if you say it out loud, is somewhat reminscent of "butterflies and zebras." And fairy tales. Do you see where this is going? That's right, song parodies about the tech industry. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to name this little ditty, sung to the tune of "Little Wing" from Jimi Hendrix:
Well their heads are in the clouds
With their IPO running round
"Polka-dotted zebras," say VCs
Make fairy tales
All they ever talk about
Is how they'll spend the moneyWhen I'm online, they come to me
With a search engine, they give to me free
It's alright, it's alright, they said
Find anything you want with me
Anything
On some level, this may be indicative of a new awakening of the creative process after two years of living with a lot of songs in my head. On another, it's more than a little bit disturbing.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate with the Fire at Soldier Field tonight. I'm already struggling with a cold after the temperature nose-dived before I was ready to deal with it sometime last weekend, and not going and potentially standing in the cold and rain isn't really an option.
