NP: Robbie Williams, The Ego Has Landed (CD)
Dammit, I was afraid this might happen. I've got my TiVo, and now I want an iPod.
Now, to be fair, this isn't purely driven by the need to have all the latest and greatest. That's never been my thing, and you should know that by now. The problem is that, right now, I would very much like to hear either "Megalomaniac" from Incubus, or "Harder to Breathe" from Maroon 5. Both of which I have on my computer at home, although the latter would have to either be transformed to the right format or re-acquired as a non-proprietary version of an AAC file.
In the absence of clever little media gadgets, though, I'll have to go with Mr. Williams and "Let Me Entertain You." The overarching theme being the need for something to boost energy and adrenaline, both currently in decline.
This isn't related to being out too late and/or suspending the "no beer on weeknights" rules. Really, it isn't. This is related to in-house applications barfing up empty spreadsheets while my e-mail inbox conspires to bring me down with both the messages it delivers and the ones it doesn't.
I need to make some phone calls tonight to set a couple of efforts in motion, including one to increase the number of days per week I'll be playing soccer this summer. I need to get back in that groove in a bad way. I've noticed lately that when I'm bored, or stressed, I'll wish I had a soccer ball just to kick around, maybe juggle a bit.
That said, the jones isn't so bad that I would deliberately make my life miserable to satisfy, and I finally woke myself up to that fact on Sunday.
