Dodging Bullets In Humboldt Park

NP: Interpol, Turn On The Bright (CD)

No, I wasn't shot at. Metaphorical bullets. I ended up giving Jesse a ride over to the Puerto Rican festival, and didn't notice that he left his window down after we unloaded the gear and I parked just off Humboldt south of Division. Given that it was broad daylight and mostly everybody from the 'hood was over in the park itself, no one seems to have noticed, and obviously the drums weren't in there, but I still got a bit worried.

The festival went well, I think. Probably one of the bigger stages and bigger crowds I've played on and for, respectively, in a while. In a perfect world, I get the "gig reports" happening on the drums page again and give more detail. We started a couple tunes a bit slow, and I tried to bump them up a click or two, but the band had more or less locked in at the slower pace. I tried to focus on locking with Oscar on bass. I'm going to say I had an easier time locking with Eric when he held that spot, but I may be biased 'cause he's a friend.

All things considered, a good musical weekend, as the Navy Pier gig on Saturday survived a few clams here and there and an abject lack of High Carb Honeys, who have maybe forsaken the whole beer garden concept in their defeat. I say this, of course, because they may still be reading, and if I've learned anything in the last week or two, it's that I should antagonize people much more often in this space.

Okay, so maybe it's not that I should antagonize people, but it's providing countless hours of free entertainment via the sharing of sharply worded e-mails, so why stop now?
