Required Fareeding

NP: CMJ New Music Monthly, Volume 125 (CD)

Since he first appeared on my radar screen, I've been a fan of Fareed Zakaria. This Washington Post op-ed piece is just one reason.

The short version? American policy towards Iraq prior to 2003 had become an unsustainable mess, so something had to be done, but that doesn't get Bush off the hook. Which is to say, Kerry's much-ridiculed "nuanced" position may have some merit.

I'm getting more and more curious as to how the debates will play into the election, when we might -- and I have to emphasize, might -- get both sides of the story at the same time, as opposed to the time-delayed and source-shifted "he said she said" pattern embodied by the cable news networks.
