David Brooks Is Such A Kidder

NP: Coz Sings! playlist (MP3)

Did the kinder, gentler conservative at the New York Times really just say "If the president is elected again and acts on his words, he may become a transformational figure"? That's so cute.

As The Daily Show with Jon Stewart pointed out so powerfully last week, his words tend to have minds of their own, relative to these pesky things like "actions" and even moreso, "facts."

After watching bits and pieces of the GOP shindig, I'm really curious to see how -- at least from the perspective of the two conventions -- the high road does against the low road, as epitomized by the two keynote addresses. If Kerry does win, I think there may be a lot of second-guessing about how speeches like Zell Miller's may have turned off the swing voters watching.
