NP: Oasis, The Master Plan (Rhapsody)
The degree to which work-based activity has slowed is staggering. And it's not even a matter of me being too exhausted or too hung over to be bothered this time. There just isn't much to do.
More to the point, every thing I'm working on is off cycling on it's own right now, so while I'm integrally involved in several projects, there's not much I can do to speed them up or affect their outcomes at the moment. I distinctly remember this sort of thing happening back in the self-employed days, but at least then I could go take a walk or something.
Two hours of decent-quality soccer yesterday, and it looks like the three-day-a-week thing is going to go full bore if I can avoid schedule conflicts. Which I can't, but between that and biking to work a lot, I might ride a wave of momentum toward the proverbial healthy lifestyle, to the point where I might swear off beer for a month again. Sounds crazy, I know.
The Thursday training sessions will kick my ass both in terms of fitness and skill, which is exactly what I need. I don't even know if I'll ever actually play on one of the club's teams (first team, reserves, over 30), but I don't really care at this point. I haven't been part of an organized practice in about 20 years.
P.S. What is it with Cubs pitchers and control problems lately? Clement walks a guy and plunks a guy in the first, and bang, we're down 3-0 already. At least Barrett broke up the no-hitter.
