McClueless

NP: Cubs vs. Mets (TV)

I know he probably doesn't watch the Cubs every day, but Tim McCarver doesn't seem to have the slightest idea what he's talking about with regard to the team. I just heard him say that the Cubs rely so heavily on Sammy Sosa that his current slump may affect the team significantly in the playoffs.

Which would all be well and good, if it weren't for the fact that it's completely wrong. If the Cubs relied on Sosa, they wouldn't even be in the running for the wild card given his current production (4 strikeouts this afternoon, yeesh). If the Cubs relied on Sosa, he's still be batting in the cleanup spot because we didn't have anyone else to fill that position in the batting order.

Mr. McCarver, I'd like you to meet the future of the franchise, Mr. Ramirez. Mr. Ramirez, Mr. McCarver. Say hi to Moises and Derrek while you're at it.
