Map Quest

NP: Nine Inch Nails, The Fragile

One of the most depressing things, to me, during the election-day proceedings, was the graphical crutch of the electoral map. Particularly on ice in Rockefeller Democracy Plaza, but there's really no need to comment on how silly that was, is there?

All or nothing. Red state or blue state. Living in Illinois, I felt not unlike General Custer must have. Fuck, we're surrounded. This is part of the whole "cultural war" idea that's flying around the Net at breakneck speeds, and eloquently touched upon last night by Jon Stewart, but that's another ball of wax.

Anyway, I just found this, which is exactly what I was looking for. The county map in USA Today is still somewhat problematic, as it doesn't really account for population density. I'd love to see a breakdown by counties broken out specifically by populations. Or somehow broken out by proximity to population centers, to get a sort of urban vs. suburban vs. exurban vs. rural split.

My research and analysis side is showing a bit, isn't it? As such, I know the youth vote actually did increase significantly, but the last number I saw -- which I think may have been since revised upwards -- had it at the same proportion as in 2000, and the vibe I was getting was that it would be a disproportionate increase compared to other age ranges. So until I look at raw numbers across the board, I reserve the right to still be disappointed.

I can't I have to answer all these mothafuckin surveys just to get direction to some place from Map Quest. This is fuckin ridiculous. Are you into advertising or helping people find their way around. As of now you are fuckin worthless. No I don't want to enroll in college and no I don't want any heart burn medicine, just fuckin direction. Thanks for nothing. Get off the internet if you are not going to be of any value.
