NP: Pantera, Far Beyond Driven
I seem to get more spam touting good deals on watches than penis enhancement these days. I'm not exactly sure what to make of that. It can't be that I'm getting old, because that would actually require Viagra, wouldn't it?
Last night's gig at The Abbey was, well, different. We played through a full P.A. on a stage more than four inches high. We played one short set preceded by a fairly interminable raffle and interrupted by a fairly interminable auction for, as far as I could tell, the movers and shakers among the younger Irish community in Chicago. Which is to say, all or most of the Irish bar owners in the city -- who seem to have an awful lot of dough to throw around, if they actually cough up the money from the winning auction bids. It's not that I have reason to doubt, but there were some awfully high numbers being bandied about, and I can't wrap my head around going out and pledging over three grand for much of anything.
Even if our portion of the proceedings were a bit touch and go at times, I get the feeling that the overall event was a smashing success, and subsequently worth being a part of. Although it was probably 1pm or so before I felt vaguely human again today, even with a nap last night before the gig. Damn schoolnight gigs.
We also did take a crack at the hitherto referenced Robbie Williams tune, but we're still a little sketchy on the arrangement. And the key. I suspect it'll be fine on Sunday. There are persistent rumors that more songs are nearing readiness, along with something I've heard called a "demo." With the benefit of beefed up sound reinforcement, I recorded the show off of the sound board, too, so demo options may about very shortly. World domination will follow.
