A Tax On People Bad At Math

NP: The Music, Welcome To The North

After some good advice from Intuit Tech Support, I finally got TurboTax up and running and took a stab at the big mess that was 2004.

Turns out that those back-of-the-envelope numbers I ran back around June or so weren't quite so -- what's the word I'm looking for? -- accurate. I blame the envelope. Or maybe the pen. I'd blame the calculator, but clearly, I must not have been using one.

I had this notion that if I upped my withholding once I triumphantly returned to the land of the salaried, benefitted full-time workforce, I'd be able to compensate for the nearly two months of full-time consulting and all the cash-only music income.

Suffice it to say, not so much.

It shouldn't set back the whole plan to get out of credit card debt by more than a month or so, but it might delay the big-ass TV and the new PC I've been coveting.

Because I know you care deeply about my taxes -- hey, it's better than posts describing what I had for breakfast (Dunkin Donuts bagel sandwich, btw) -- I'll have some other fun, and mostly music-related facts I gleaned from the process when I get the chance.
