We Gotta Go Now

NP: Alanis Morissette, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie

No, I'm not making this up. Via BuzzMachine, a Michigan middle school doesn't want it's marching band to play an instrumental version of The Kingsmen's "Louie Louie" on account of "raunchy" lyrics.

Put aside the bit at the end of the AP story that states that no less than J. Edgar Hoover's FBI declared the song neither obscene nor at all intelligible. They're talking about an instrumental version of the song anyway. On what planet can an instrumental song be considered obscene?

This one. Because it's happened before.

Fortunately, it seems cooler heads have prevailed.
