Trying To Make Sense

NP: Bloc Party, Silent Alarm

For a couple of days now, I've been trying to deal with someone I know getting killed in a really poorly thought-out suicide attempt.

Of the three local musicians who died in the crash, I only know one of them, but believe me, one is enough. Even then, Doug Meis was the one guy in EXO that I didn't know all that well, but by every account, he was a super sweet guy, and I can certainly vouch for him as a drummer. He will be missed by an awful lot of people. I won't be able to make it to the funeral this afternoon, but I'm going to try to leave something at the temporary memorial at the site of the crash.

Both riding my bicycle and driving my car since hearing the news, I was a little spooked by the other drivers around me. So I tried to drown it out by playing EXO CDs really loudly, which I guess sorta worked.

More news stories on the crash here, here and here, and local reactions here, here and here.

I'm going to collect my thoughts about Doug, in particular, sometime later.

Comments

i went to the funeral today and one thing said over and over again was how much people thought so highly of and respected doug. we've lost a wonderful human being and musician.
