Oh, I'm Alerted, All Right

NP: Bloc Party, Silent Alarm

On the one hand, kudos to the folks at CTA Tattler for their SMS-based updater of delays and whatnot on the trains and buses of our fair city. I haven't tried the service yet, but I probably will, so as not to completely waste the X number of text messages I get for my fixed fee per month.

On the other, way to scare me shitless. I work half a block from said El stop. I've always been somewhat blasé about the actual threat of terrorism, on account of not being in a position to really do much about it. If I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time, so be it. But that's mostly predicated on a certain amount of blissful ignorance with regard to actually being in said wrong place, which is then shattered by this particular tidbit of information.

I'm also really curious as to whether or not this goes on to trigger news coverage of the backpack that might not have happened otherwise. And if that triggers not quite a mass panic, but a certain veneer of apprehension among the Loop-bound.
