Inside Out

NP: big playlist of 2005 releases

Another weekend, another Bulls post. This is starting to become a routine.

Anyway, I'm curious to see how this new starting lineup with Michael Sweetney at center works out, but last night's blowout of the Celtics was the kind of thing that's going to make anyone optimistic. What I liked most is how the story looked like it was the unrelenting accuracy from three-point range, but that was really only made possible because Sweetney and Darius Songalia were so active in the low post in the first half, something guard Chris Duhon acknowledged in post-game comments.

None of this really changes what I said before, except that the inside game of previous weeks seemed to come more from guard penetration than from the low post. So the move to get Sweetney and Songaila more involved may mark a turning point. It may also mark a turning point for Tyson Chandler, who could find himself slipping further down the bench. This isn't ideal for a big-money guy, but the reluctance for the Bulls to go to him in that low post compared to the other guys was striking. There's likely still a big role for the big man, not the least of which is drawing the opponent's biggest guy on defense, which may actually free up the team's other low post threat for a better matchup.
