NP: Radiohead, Kid A
So I strolled down to Horseshoe last night to take in some music. The drink specials were $2 cans of PBR and $2 shots of Jameson. As it so happened, I got myself a seat at the end of the bar, right next to the namesake horseshoe, so I was able to witness much of the ordering of drinks.
If somebody ordered Maker's Mark, the bartender pointed out that the Jameson could be had cheaper.
I ordered Guinness, and got no such recommendation that I might want to switch to Pabst Blue Ribbon. Which is as it should be.
Given the mega-hipster vibe the new watering hole has -- epitomized by a prominent sign boasting tickets available for a women's roller derby team -- I almost felt self-conscious drinking a stout instead of the beer that has enabled a whole generation of trucker hats, but I got over it. They pour it right, at least, and when the keg was acting up, the bartender comped me one. So it's all good in my book.
