First it's the Italians being inexplicably good at it. Now it's the USA being even more inexplicably less good at it than...Canada?
I haven't been paying attention to the columnists, but I think these sorts of results actually make a case for this World Baseball Classic. And unless the media dismisses this as an ill-advised waste of time -- and I'm sure some already have -- it may actually educate American sports writers about what everybody else thinks of the "real" World Cup -- national pride, incredible potential for upsets, kvetching over club versus country -- it's all there.
