Hope Springs Eternal

NP: Ben Harper, Both Sides Of The Gun

So, in watching the last futile efforts of the Bulls to grab that last playoff spot, I've been subjected to Comcast's advertising for the upcoming Cubs season. Did you know that the only thing keeping the Cubs from contending last year was Corey Patterson? While I'm not going to argue that Patterson was part of the problem, I'm not going to go so far as to claim that Juan Pierre is the answer to all the Cubs' ills.

Comcast, on the other hand, has no such problem doing so. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad, and given that the network's ownership includes the Tribune Corporation, even more so. If the Trib really thinks Pierre is all they needed to be a contender, they're pretty dumb, and if they think that they can get their fans to believe it, then that's, well, exactly what we've come to expect from the organization.
