NP: Steely Dan, Aja
Whew. Not only has the food poisoning I've been suffering from since Tuesday night finally lifted, the lingering headaches from the mild concussion a few weeks ago seem to have gone away as well. What has surprised me the most is that I haven't passed out from lack of nutrition, as I hadn't really eaten much of anything over that two-day stretch. I tried that on purpose once in a fit of pique, maybe ten or twelve years ago, and didn't make it much more than 24 hours without, literally, crashing.
The other scary thing is that I went two days without caffeine, save half a cup of green tea yesterday which suffered the same fate as everything else I tried putting in my body, which is to say I don't think it stayed in the system long enough to have much of an effect. That, along with the dehydration and the lack of food, may have explained the headaches, anyway.
This morning I just felt qualitatively different. It was kind of eerie. At various points over this stretch, I've thought "I feel a bit better, maybe now I can eat something," only to be proven wrong pretty quickly. This time, I was sure everything had settled. I just knew. I weighed myself last night, but hadn't used that scale in a while, so I'm skeptical that this was a quick and rather painful way to lose ten pounds.
