NP: party shuffle
They have drive-thru liquor -- okay, beer and wine -- stores, presumably so you aren't interrupted while listening to one of the fifty or so classic rock radio stations, but it's damn near impossible to find coffee at four in the afternoon. And on four hours of sleep and a two-hour flight, I would not be deterred. Ended up with passable stuff from Applebee's, of all places.
It was a quick and familially (probably not a word) satisfying jaunt to Nags Head for my cousin's wedding, but I'm back now, caught up on my soccer and at least Prison Break and 24. Packed the CD collection as I saw my picks go wrong on Chivas-Red Bulls -- which is a soccer game and not a mixed drink -- and after stopping down at the new place, came to the conclusion that my existing CD shelves will actually fit inside the shallow closet, at least until I build it out the way I want. The bedroom is going to be a trickier fit than I had initially anticipated, but I'll deal. This notion of buying new stuff for the apartment before I move on Sunday probably isn't going to happen, except for maybe a rug and some new pillows for the sofa.
And the drum storage solution worked like a charm -- or at least showed serious potential to work like a charm once I get the feel for it -- after the gig out in Lincolnshire, which had that odd vibe that all shows at the Cubby Bear North have. There's a crowd there, but you can't actually see them, because the space right in front of you -- and by you, I mean us, because I have no idea if this is the case for other bands -- is mostly empty. Late word via e-mail is that Liverpool was struck down by food poisoning. I may request a note from his doctor.
Chris, we thought of you driving out of town yesterday. Further up on 158 were "coffeehouses"! Good seeing you. love, Meg
