NP: Lollapalooza Rhapsody mix
Via Daily Kos, Reuters flags Bush's use of the phrase "Islamic fascists" in the wake of yesterday's arrests. Seeing the clip of the quote last night on Olbermann, part of me thinks that wasn't really what he meant to say. The two more obvious candiates would be "Islamofascists," which is a term I think I've seen bandied about in the past, or maybe "Islamic fanatics," which is just unwieldy enough to take it out of the running.
It's just a hunch. I could be totally wrong on this. But it looked fishy to me. The words just looked sort of uncomfortable coming out of his mouth, which reminded me of one of my biggest fears when Bush got elected in the first place, and that was the very real possibility that he would say one thing when he meant another in a sensitive diplomatic situation -- like using "inflammable" instead of "nonflammable" -- and somehow create an international incident.
