Seven And The Ragged Media Player

NP: Radiohead, Hail To The Thief

Okay, so I was a good little boy and downloaded the new iTunes. On the one hand, it seems to have automatically found the album art for a whole lot of my music, which is nice and all. On the other, it gets really gargly sometimes. My first guess was that it wasn't on good opening terms with the Mackie Onyx as the output device, which seemed to be borne out when I switched to the normal sound card and then back.

Except now I'm still having the same trouble. Of all the options Apple lists, the only one that even has a chance of being the culprit is DirectX, so now that's updated and we'll see what happens.

From what I've read, the "gapless audio" is a neat addition, and as someone who has come to grudgingly accept that moment of silence between contiguous live tracks, I'm all for it. I also need to start tweaking output volumes for rips of old CDs that haven't been remastered. Peter Gabriel's Security stands out on that front.
