The Accidental Uninvestor

NP: Guided By Voices, Universal Truths and Cycles

Every once in a while, I like to talk about my meager stock holdings. Unfortunately, the good folks at E*Trade gave me some bad information on the default action when Vivendi made some changes, so now I'm cashed out. So the best thing that can come from this news is that the company goes private for somewhere in the ballpark of what I just got paid for my handful of shares.

Unfortunately, the private bid failed, and as Coolfer reports, the breakup may be the more likely options. Which is precisely one of my reasons for picking this up in the first place, in that the breakup of the water utility turned entertainment conglomerate could provide a sort of "instant diversification." So it will suck if I'm right, but can't gain from it.
