Giving Up The Ghost

NP: Bears vs. Jets

So, anyway, I'm starting to wonder if I've managed to acquire a ghost. It started at my last apartment, where I would often come home to find my bedroom and/of office light on, when I knew I had turned them off when I left in the morning. In that particular space, it wasn't really that much of a mystery, as we had touch-sensitive light switches, and the configuration of the apartment made for one heck of a wind tunnel. It wasn't a stretch to imagine that the wind provided enough force to affect the switches.

Now I've moved a couple of blocks away, and with an entirely different style of switch, it's still happening. While I've heard this particular light/fan switch also has some crosstalk, I'm becoming enamored of this idea that I'm cohabitating with some spectral anomaly that apparently needs reading light.

I had thought that the answering machine messages that actually tracked as outgoing calls -- "if you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again" -- and were happening at pretty much the exact same time every day might have been part of the same pattern, but they stopped pretty abruptly as soon as the 2006 election ended.
