The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret

NP: John Cage, 4'33

Okay, so the blogosphere has pounced on Rudy's presidential playbook, but I think the Daily Kos lead of "how can we trust this guy with top-secret information" is totally missing the point. Who is the "source sympathetic to one of Giuliani's rivals for the White House"? The Daily News says the dossier was "left behind" as Giuliani campaigned, but I think this interpretation that it was forgotten in a hotel room or something like that is a bit of dramatic license.

Of course, my version is probably just as spurious, but I get the feeling one of Rudy's people gave it to someone they thought they could trust, who then turned it over to the newspaper's source. So this could be some quality infighting and backstabbing already, and we're still nearly two years from the election.

UPDATE: Washington Monthly guest blogger Steve Benen has the same notion, but isn't speculating on the source. And a McCain staffer has conveniently already commented on the leak.
