NP: Gomez, How We Operate
Okay, you have to love that, in an opinion piece in the Washington Post, sci-fi author and futurist Bruce Sterling says:
Back in 1998, the Mexican state of Chiapas caught fire and the smoke from its rainless "rain forests" stretched all the way to Chicago. In Austin, my home town, the sky was the color of a dead television channel.
That part in italics, of course, is the first line of William Gibson's cyberpunk classic Neuromancer, and it was in fact a post on Gibson's blog that led me to the article in the first place, so you know he dug the reference.
