NP: shuffle songs

On the heels of my stupidity over the weekend, I now have to figure out how I'm going to recover at least most of my MP3 files.

ITunes will, in fact, let me redownload my purchased tracks, so that's one, very small piece in place. DriveSavers can allegedly recover from an accidentally formatted disk, but there's a really wide price range associated with it, and the high end of that range is more than I'd like to invest in solving the problem.

Whether I go that route will largely depend on EMusic. If the MP3 site will let me take another crack at the tracks I had from their library, I'm inclined to suck it up and either rip my CDs myself or have that done for me. If not, the DriveSavers option seems to make the most sense, although it runs the risk of not working.

Of course, there's also my iPod. I've probably got about half my songs on the 30GB device, and pulling them off it shouldn't be all that hard. Although I'm worried about what happens if my PC tries to sync with the unit when the PC doesn't actually have any of the songs on it.

The next trick is getting my iTunes library listing into another program where I can catalog just what it is I've got. Or what I had, anyway, so I can compare the rebuilding to the original. Particularly if I have to use that last choice to get a big chunk of the files back.
