Non-Starters

NP: Arctic Monkeys, Favourite Worst Nightmare

For whatever reason, I flirted yesterday with the idea of giving up caffeine cold turkey. To reward going most of the day without, I had one can of soda with dinner. Of course, I spent the entire day on my couch recovering from a cold, so alertness wasn't exactly of paramount importance. Today I made it until mid-afternoon.

I don't know if this has any chance of making it to the weekend, although I may try to lay off again over said weekend. Whether this "body is a temple" motif -- more accurately "body is a temple with a nagging hip injury" -- will extend to alcohol is yet to be seen. I may try to not drink on the gig tomorrow night just to see if I can do it.

It comes down to this vague notion of shocking the system to break myself out of a rut, but I also know I have no willpower whatsoever, so we'll see how this goes. It may end up to be a parallel to my new approach to soccer, where I cut something out and then try to reintroduce it gradually. Of course, that approach is having the net result of making me want to give up playing soccer, so it might not be the best model right now.
