Damn Robots

NP: Everybody Hates Chris

So, I sent my desktop PC off to, um, meet its maker. And by that, I mean I sent it to the manufacturer to see if they could figure out what's wrong with it. So, this should end the war with the machines once and for all, right?

Of course not.

As mentioned elsewhere, I'm taking a ten-day weekend around Thanksgiving to decompress and whatnot. During this stretch, I planned on watching some DVDs that I've acquired over the last year or so. I pop in the first disc of the Aeon Flux animated series, kick back on the couch, and...

This disc cannot be played (HDCP).

I try Batman Beyond. Same deal. Okay, how about an Arrested Development DVD that I've already watched? Nope. With the PC taken off the battlefield, the robots have found a new vanguard, and picked the perfect time to do maximum damage.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm living on top of some electro-magnetic disturbance, which would account for the PC meltdown, the bedroom light and fan turning itself on, the CableCARD mess, and now this.

Maybe I am an electro-magnetic disturbance.

Maybe I just need to be more grounded.

I'd apologize for that, only I'm not really sorry.
