NP: Faith No More, King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime
Buried in this article on potential conflict of interest at the FTC regarding the still-pending Google-DoubleClick deal is this nugget:
Blair Levin, an analyst at Stifel Nicolaus, wrote in a note to clients that he believed that Ms. Majoras supports approving the deal, and her recusal could have led to a 2-to-2 tie among the remaining four commissioners. But that would still allow the deal to go forward, because a majority of commissioners is required for the agency to try to block a deal in court.
"Could have led"? It's hard to tell if this is purely hypothetical, or if there's a sense of the current votes underlying the comment. I really, really would like this limbo to be over.
