They've already tried to retroactively change the definition of "torture" in order to conform to their actual behavior, now the Washington Post reports that the White House seems to be, what, claiming that as long as they saved the e-mail to a backup tape drive on Monday, they're free to overwrite it on Tuesday?
It wouldn't surprise me if the argument is that they complied with the law by making a backup of the e-mails, and then simply destroyed the backups, because the law didn't say anything about that, kind of like how they're saying the 9/11 Commission asked for materials, and not videotapes.
