NP: John Cage, 4'33"
After last night's contest, there seems to be an emerging meme about how much better a debater Barack Obama is now compared to earlier in the campaign. This is one of the things I like more and more about my Senator. He learns. He adapts. He gets better. If you look at things like his campaign infrastructure and his debate performances, you get an interesting insight into what kind of president he might make, I think it's very encouraging. It's the humility of knowing you can, and must, improve that really hits me.
Say what you will about "ready on day one" and learning curves, but the flip side of that is that I think Barack Obama wants to be a better president on day1460 than on day one, and that seems significant. This goes back to something Scott Adams said recently, in that the uniqueness of the presidency is such that no other experience is really going to prepare you for it. So maybe you should look for qualities that show how someone would be able to grow into a role (which is my interpretation, not his).
