Framing Obama

NP: John Cage, 4'33"

Andrew Sullivan sort of pooh-poohs Hugh Hewitt's take on Obama, in the context of, you know, never being right about anything. But one of the passages Hewitt cites sort or resonates a bit:

Senator Barack is, in short, a rookie. The sort of rookie the fans love, then turn against, realizing he isn't up to the job. The sort of rookie that makes huge mistakes, which while merely disappointing on the football field, are deadly on the field of international conflict.

The irony of this from someone who backs George W. Bush doesn't really matter. What does matter is that it's a really good way to frame the experience issue, and could stick if used properly. Maybe I'm just too sensitive to this, having hung around a sports fan community that consistently overrates players they've never actually seen play.
