Just A Flesh Wound

NP: Mr. Bungle, Mr. Bungle

Andrew Sullivan thinks Barack Obama has been "wounded" by the Reverend Wright issue, according to the polls he cites. Two things jump out at me. Of the Democrats who either think Obama shares Wright's views (17%) or had doubts about Obama because of his association with Wright (26%), what would that mean for their votes in November? Would they vote for a Republican instead? Would they stay at home? Nader?

And what's the overlap on independents (20%/27%) and Republicans (36%/56%) who weren't going to vote for him in November anyway? There may be fallout from this particular episode, but this ain't it.
